During the Reaper war, the Reapers used captured populations that were deemed unfit for DNA process to create synthetic hybrid soldier for the front lines of the war. The first encountered variant of these are the Human based husks. Other examples are the Batarian based Cannibal, the Turian based Marauder, the Krogan based Brute, and the Asari based Banshee. These creatures are created by an infection of the host body with Reaper nanomachines that spread by piggybacking on adrenaline molecules, converting the entire body into a living conduit for Reaper signals.
